Shiloh House Church is about ordinary people who are true believers .. coming together to live out an expression of love towards God and one another. It’s a very simple model, aiming to depart from institutionalism and becoming a genuine “living organism” in Jesus Christ. We have eliminated the burdens of coping with buildings and programs and we have no need for impressive leaders (though house church planters & leaders, hopefully, do have some leadership gifts).
To start a house church, you simply need to open your home and get the word out that you have a gathering place and time and then take things one step at a time, trusting God to lead, direct and literally do everything! We are willing vessels. He does all the leading and brings forth the work.. all of it. We are prepared vessels for his honor and glory.. simply waiting on him.
“Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.” (Isaiah 26:12)
We pray..
The first step to starting a house church is to pray. House church ministry must be birthed in prayer. Though it is a simple step, without prayer and God’s leading, we certainly may run into trouble. Starting a house church cannot be just a good idea; it must be a God idea and that is what Shiloh House Church is. It has been in the making for over 20 years.
Honestly, I had to weigh out my heart and purify my motives recently. I do not want this to be a reaction to the things I didn’t like about the established church or ways I have been hurt. (Although we will have some commentary soon on what the modern church has become, compared to what it was always supposed to be.)
I want this to be all God’s leading and a desire to fellowship and worship with others and reach those who don’t know Jesus.
It’s all about finding and knowing Jesus, the “Fountain of Living Water” and expressing that which wells up in us through the power of the Holy Spirit, to give him all the thanks, all the praise and all the glory he deserves! It’s the joy of true agape koinonia fellowship with other believers and sharing the faith life with other believers and the gift of Living Water with those who never knew it was there for them to receive freely.
Jesus .. The Fountain of Living Water – “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:13)
We are at the very beginning. Others have joined us from time to time throughout the years and it has been a goodly gathering at times, but at this time, it’s just my family; we are all alone, but that is what it is supposed to be because.. it is a “new thing”. “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)
